This recipe isn’t just for tiny hands learning about food; it will work perfectly for toddlers or even adults who love to indulge in a scrummy breakfast filled with flavour. Dexter is a huge fan of toast and it’s one of the few words he can actually say at 20 months old, but occasionally I like to treat him to something a little bit more decadent like this baby led weaning french toast.

Why offer blueberries to your baby?
Blueberries are a super food and are among the most nutrient dense berries out there. They are jam packed full of things your baby needs to grow and develop into a healthy child and adult. Blueberries contain:
- Fiber: to help digestion
- Vitamin C: helps to support baby’s immune system
- Vitamin K: helps build healthy bones
- Manganese: critical for brain development
How do you serve this baby led weaning french toast?
If you’re making it for a baby, this baby led weaning french toast sandwich can be served as it is without any extras and cut into strips so it’s easy to pick up and eat.
However, if you’re making it for toddlers or adults, why not drizzle over some honey or maple syrup and a sprinkle of icing sugar to really set the tone? I must admit to actually making this breakfast dish for myself more than anybody else, and even though I’m not a huge fan of bananas (unlike Dexter who adores ‘raras‘), the taste actually hugely compliments the tangy blueberries and the sweet maple syrup.

I never realised this is how you make french toast – I always thought it was far more complicated!! Looks like my savoury eggy bread breakfast is about to get an upgrade!!
You have to try this Hayley, it’s sooo yummy! Lots of maple syrup on yours!
We’ve been told whole blueberries can be a choking hazard so squish or slice them before offering to baby. He loves eggy bread though!
